Something Is Happening

Marena Benoit

something is happening

ripping

crushing

a hand around my waist

a touch of my nose

a brush of my shoulder

really feels like a punch in the gut

a breaking of my teeth

a ripping out of all my hair

nothing concedes in nature save

the crashing of a waterfall

but even that is beautiful. there is no beauty

here where something Is happening

Marena Benoit is an English major at Florida State University, and an avid rock climber who has scaled cliffs in Tennessee, Colorado, and elsewhere.
